My journey begins Tuesday with a flight from Orange County/John Wayne to Minneapolis. After a short layover, I'm on my way to Amsterdam. A few hours later, I depart Schiphol for Johannesburg where I'll spend the night in preparation for the jump to Gaborone, Botswana the next day.

Tuesday and Wednesday came with high wind warnings. It was too cold and windy to do much more than walk the dogs several times. The rain clouds banked up against the local mountains but hardly any pass into the desert. When they do it is downright cold. We enjoy what sun does shine on us.
Thursday we had a break in the wind..... at least it isn't blowing 30 mph, just 15. No delta wing doggie ears ...

After watching two short films on the construction of the tramway and development of the state park we ventured outside into a cool forest. The temperature here was in the lower 60’s compared to the low 90’s on the valley floor.
