... through the midday sun takes it out of you. The desert was mostly flat and we barely saw anyone except the odd shepherd. The silence was amazing, especially after all the cities i had been to. We/the guides cooked our meals over a campfire, fresh vege curry and hot off the fire chipattis. Our nghts ended about an hour before sunset on stunning sanddunes where we had dinner and watched the sun setting over the desert. We slkept on bankets under the stars and a rediculously ...

A presto.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India marcozio... scrub, a few goats here and there, and a distinct lack of people. This was not surprising as the sun outside was really intense, and the heat very unforgiving. I was hard to see how anything could survive out there, but once in a while we came to a small village where people managed to live in these extreme conditions.

Our first exploration of the city began in Gandi Chowk, the square near our guesthouse, and ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India markandchar... from brittle sandstone and on a cliff. The Lonely Planet encourages travelers to avoid staying at any of the hotels inside the fort as they would be contributing to its demise. 5,000 people live inside the fort and all the water they use ends up running under the fort in the cliff and has been causing the fort to sink in some parts. While Yaarit and I had been walking around its perimeter trying to find a way in...we were nearly hit with falling stones that had rolled ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India athena... kind of trip so as we arrived at our starting point some 25km into the desert we had high hopes for an amazing two days. Our guide Baba and his trusty young trainee Aladin were patiently waiting for us with our mounts as we pulled up just outside a small village. The camels were loaded and ready for their excited but somewhat nervous riders. Neither of us had ever ridden a camel before and it was to take us a long time to get used to the strange way that ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India thedidgeridude... lit a camp fire and Simon sang some songs of the desert. One was shockingly contemporary about an arranged marriage between an Indian Muslim and a Pakistani Muslim and how they had grown to love each other, but because of the countries tension aren't able to see each other much, but hopefully one day it will get better and then so will their marriage. We slept on Camel blankets in the sand beneath the star lit sky, an amazing day! Safari Day ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India mikela... this fort was very impressive, we thought it our duty to have a look around inside..including a free audio tour. It seemed however that we were more interesting to many of the indian boys that the fort itself was.. asking numerous times to have photos with us was infact extremely amusing to both kelsey and I. Unfortunatley though, we were followed (thanks to kelseys keen awarness for realising) by an indian man who first asked to be our guide ...
jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India horsham... girls who I chilled out with for a couple of days before they headed into the desert on a camel trek, I couldn't join because of my back but had done so in the Taklamakan Desert in China so was not to bothered. I spend most of my time exploring the interesting back streets and inside the fort where I would climb the steps to the highest restaurant and watch the sunset over the desert whilst enjoying a beer.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India markwilliams84... it was moving of course) leant fully out, did a huge hawking noise and spat, then returned to the seat as if it was the most normal thing in the world! (6) The bus we took to Dharamsala went over several bridges beside which read a sign saying "Warning Bridge Damaged" - did not seem to bother the driver too much.... ODD CHARACTERS India seems to attract people who are a bit alternative, people who are searching for something spiritual and the others ...
