... went down the big slide ( it was actually quite scary) The man was swimming as well with 2 small boys. I was a little weirded out cause I noticed he kept looking at me out of the corner of his eye. ... we kept going towards our right and got ahead of it. We needed to stop for gas again and it was still looming behind us and seemed to be bigger than before. There were other bikes and they did the same thing. Gas and go to get out of the area. Shane had pulled out his work phone to check messages (sorry Sean...I yelled at him to put his phone away so we could get moving). This is a self rescue necessary event, if you can't swim back to boat or to the side if river, you will have problems.
There were more too, all making Mr. Aguglia really questioning his decision to attend this event and how he let me talk him into this.
There were many more.

We got to the campground (not bad location, less truckstop like...) the plan was decided for tomorrow, whitewater rafting and zip line adventure. A little coaxing was needed for a few of the members, but it would be a go!

... Springs, it’s just off I-70 so no long drive up rough roads necessary. The hike also involves a specific destination and (although quite steep) is not very long.

While on most backcountry hikes in Colorado you mostly see very fit people and their dogs, the trail to Hanging Lake is filled with chubbies and oldsters from the lowlands who rarely do much walking other than the aisles ...
