This is the view of Kilimanjaro mountain taken from the Precission Air on the way from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro.
Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania mariast DAY THREE (Sunday, September 6, 2009)
In to (not out of) Africa.
I awoke before dawn, in time to get my camera out and take some window shots of an incredible sunrise … reds and oranges, over a rugged terrain. Shots destined as backgrounds in the digital scrapbook I've planned. Hope there will be many more.
Our flight arrived Dar es Salaam (largest port in Tanzania) early, which simply meant we had an extra hour to sit on the concrete stairs to await our 11...

... little disturbing. The Masai dress in blankets and the men live well and expect to be cared for by their many wives. Although they have very little all Masai people we met were very friendly especially the kids. On the road they would run towards our truck for a wave or smile screaming Muzungo, the word used to describe a white person. It was heart warming to see the happiness on the kids faces from such a simple thing. We spent a morning at a Masai village in Arusha ...
Arusha, Tanzania longwayaround... 9 class rooms in total, 3 bedrooms (for the orphans) a small play ground and a room for them to have their dinner which at the moment they don't have. Will probably take a few years for them to build it all as this all depends on funding.
Talk soon.

... only been there about 4 times so far so is a really nice treat to them. Wondering what else I can do with them which won't cost soo much as can not do this every weekend.
On monday caroline and crystal where going to go to Arusha national park for a small safari, I went with them to share the costs as we took 3 kids with us. Corfield (the son of Kaaya and Joyce as he never gets taken anywhere as not an orphan), sheila (really shy girl) and farajael ...
... thing happened. Heini lit into the group starting off by saying that the trip had been awful for everyone and that he had never had a more negative group and that four people in particular had caused everyone to have a horrible time. (He was ****** because before we had left for the Serengeti Gabe, Lola and Toni had questioned him on some of the expenses and he had said he’d have an answer when we got back.) When he named four ...
Arusha, Tanzania claraz8... litt paa bilder og tekst. Internettfasiliteter er nemlig litt begrenset her omkring.
Arusha, Tanzania ole.dolven... regards to Mr. Bush for being so people-friendly. At the airport we spotted the president's helicopter. Looks like he's going on safari tomorrow ... maybe we'll see him in Serengeti or in Ngorongoro:). Mr. Bush probably realized that it's one of his last chances to have vacations on the State budget, so he decided to relax in TZ for 4 days. I'd stay for even longer if I were him:). I thought we would join a group, but turned out that we have a personal ...
Arusha, Tanzania tourjournal... temporary assignment. She knows a great driver who borrowed a 4-Wheel Drive from a friend of his and took us out to the park. The dirt road leading to the park gates is quite possibly the worst road I've ever been on. The dirt has eroded away leaving about 6 inches of pointy white rocks exposed everywhere- I was shocked we didn't get a flat, but the car did fine. Once inside the park ...
Arusha, Tanzania afrikanya... don't I canoe more often? All my friends in Austin- be advised- there will be many (or at least one) canoe days on Town Lake this summer. So these are some choice photos of that adventure. Finally, some requestied photos.
Arusha, Tanzania afrikanya... at the north end of which is a volcano which seems to erupt every couple of days, and huge lakes which literally spread as far as the eye can see. Our campsite on the last night was right on the crater rim was also a nice little feeding ground for either buffalo or zebras during the night. We didn't leave the tent to see exactly what it was that was munching on the delicious grass around us but it ...
