For the next couple of days, I'm sticking around Istanbul enjoying some of the sights I've wanted to see (unrelated to work, of course!) and finishing up some souvenir shopping :).

(Again, sorry, the photo function seems to not be working; I'll have to try again later :( )

... the 5pm bus and sat and relaxed.

When our bus arrived, we were a bit surprised. This was not the luxury express bus we arrived in and that we saw coming in and out of the station - this was the inner city bus we had expected originally. Unfortunately, somehow, the 5pm bus was what seemed like the only local bus of all of the busses. There were no other options. We could wait til 6:30...but decided just to take it. The good news was, again, because ...

    Our crazy drive to Iznik

... at the first hotel whose room didn't utterly disappoint us, the Berlin Hotel. We sort of didn't notice, until it was too late, that the bathroom was on a raised pedestal and completely enclosed in frosted glass. You could pretty much watch the bathroom as if it were a television. None of us were particularly happy about that, but fortunately there was another toilet in a room with actual walls and an actual door just down the hall, which we used for all our ... business.
