... Muezzin call from our hotel and it is a common sight to see the white robed gentlemen rushing to prayer. As we have been here during Ramadan its difficult not to get caught up with the cycle of fasting and prayer. Today is Eid so huge feasts and a 'holi' day for all Muslims. I'm sure we will see much celebration up on the Fort walls tonight with chjldren flying kites while parents celebrate. Last night we visited "ROTI MAN' after sunset. We went to the YMBA (Young Man's Buddhist Association) as it looked like an interesting place to continue our journey into Sri Lankan food. We really wanted to try the infamous Sri Lankan hopper (a slightly sour pancake), but ...

Needless to say that when the alarm went off at 6am, sitting on a boat for the next 4 hours wasn't what I fancied at that moment. Nevertheless I was glad that sleeping next to a naked gay guy I'd had the forethought to wrap myself up in the mosquito net, as though that would offer some sort of protection. Obviously the last ones on board and wearing sunglasses even though it was cloudy, we made it, immediately asking the captain for sea sickness tablets which he had; he' ...
