Hello everyone! So...early start to catch the boat from Ko Tao to Ko Phangan. The journey wasn't very long (around 35 minutes) so Becky was pretty happy! Arrived in Ko Phangan surrounded by touts trying to get us to stay at their 'cheap cheap' guesthouse, we chose one from our BIBLE (Rough Guide) and managed to get a taxi about halfway! At which point, the taxi driver pretty much dumped us on the beach and then had to walk for about 30 minutes in the boiling sunshine with what felt like a per...
Ko Phangan, Thailand catherinejr Hi guys
So we left you last time on our way to Vang Vieng in Laos. We had only intended to stay here for one night and one day and then leave but as we learnt this was not possible. We had met people on our travels that had had the same intentions as us and had also stayed longer and we always laughed at them and said we wouldn't do the same. How wrong we were!!! Tubing is the most entertaining and dangerous thing i’ve ever experienced.
We ended up going tubing 3 days in a...

... We went to the riverside for dinner that night (it lived up to all the guidebooks raves about it). we then headed into old town for a couple of drinks at the UN irish pub. It was originally owned by an irish lady but it has since been sold onto people from several nationalities, hence the UN part.
Back to the guesthouse for an early night as we have a busy day tommorrow.

... be seen even though they are obviously very touristy. We have only had 3 meals out of the hotel so far as the food at the Manadarin Oriental is very good; the Thai rest particularly is excellent. There is a Thai dance show every evening from 8 till 9 and a gourmand menu for 1300 baht excluding wine. Good value couldnt eat it all. The Gallery rest. by the river has a nice ambience and mid range prices for tasty food ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand tizwoz... of the "must see’s" of Chiang Mai. Many cities in Thailand host night markets, as the temperature finally relents after sunset. This one was fairly touristy (McDonald’s is definitely not part of a traditional Thai marketplace,) but was a fun experience. We explored for a couple of hours and barely began to even scratch the surface.
Our first full day in Chiang Mai was spent exploring the old town, the walled original section of the city ...
... big grasshoppers, but the mole crickets stole the show. I wish now I had scooped all of the mole crickets out the pool drain as a child and fried them up. Maybe a little roadside stand on the side of 190 East. I could be rich right now. Shoulda woulda coulda...
I found some people at the market that were at the hostel and took them to Rooftop bar. We had a good time. Mostly talks about comparisons between American and English sports and travel. Same ol same ...
... as the place with the most people which we had found was an internet cafe we gave up and went back. We were just chilling and reading on the balcony/corridor outside our room when the old Japanese man next door came back to his room. We had met him the night before sat in the same place and had had a very interesting conversation as he speaks about as much English as we do Japanese. So he spoke to us in Japanese and we spoke to us in English. It was good ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand emmaandemma... there sharply winded through lush, green mountains. The scenery was beautiful but for me, who is prone to getting car sick, it was a rough ride! We all enjoyed the quaint town of Pai very much. We didn't do much sight seeing here but enjoyed strolling the streets of the town, checking out the street vendors and listening to live music at night. We signed up for an all day Thai cooking class and started with a morning trip to the market where our Thai ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand katenclint... We said goodbye to a couple of litters of puppies that were living around our hut, and walked on for the next stage. We stopped for lunch at another village. All of us were happy to rest for half an hour to an hour, but the guides wanted their siestas, so we ended up doing very little for three hours. We continued walking on a much flatter route than the day before, going through rice fields and jungle, arriving at the hut for the second ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand eddiemetalBrad sent a text and it woke me at 4.45 am!! Couldn't get back to sleep but let Nathan sleep till 8.30 am – so he had a good 12 hours. We went over to the verandah of the main house for breakfast where we were served breakfast of tea/coffee, juice, chopped fruit and then a choice of hot breakfast. I had a Thai omelette on rice which was really ...
