... I am facing my fears and that by the end of this holiday I will be holding snakes in my hands. I am not so sure, I was feeling like I was going to throw up and poopsie in my panty at the same time. Thankfully we were just about to hit a long beach section and another break point where I could gather my composure.

The hike back took less time, but we saw less species. We reached La Leona ranger station at about 1pm and guzzled down a soda each and filled up our bottle with a ...
Puerto Jimenez, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica mardow... we continue down and i mean down. at times it was all about jumping and hoping you catch the branch you are trying for. we came out ona river and hiked it back. it was a super awesome, but very ******* every muscle in the body. i got stung by a jelly fish and that was neat. i went fishing a bunch and catch a needle nose fish. it only breeds durning the week i fished for it and you can only catch it off shore then. it was super tastey. and it ...
Golfito, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica crtravel... Digestive biscuit coloured jelly, had digestive biscuit in it. The black jelly, well we're still not sure. All this was presented on one plate... Master Chef eat you're jelly heart out. Beer drinking: If you drink beer you will need to pee. For some reason my pee count has gone up to 3 or 4 trips a night at all hours. Normally 12am 2am and 5:30am. A little annoying, but I do get to see plenty of wildlife. All in ...
Corcovado National Park, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica chris.parker... place with more biodiversity from the earth, that's right, from the whole planet. And is a proper definition, on the same day we saw an eagle ray jumping vertical on the water, crocodiles where the river Serena meets the ocean, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, white faced monkeys a titi monkey, coatis, wild boards with the offspring, a tapir, countless birds between then the scarlet macaw o the woodpeckers, trees taller than 50m and I do not know what else...but if you got the minimum ...
Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica javierferrin... a lot less space than I thought, but I love the idea of living with just the necessities. It truly is amazing how many things our culture leads us to believe we just can't live without, but I won't start ranting now. I've got too much stuff to do! (I'll post one more blog around the time I leave with my Sat Phone number (incoming calls and texts are free!) and other details. In the meantime, check out the new blog photo and buy KimO a drink option.)
Golfito, Costa Rica wmdkim... Luckily, I did not have need for the latter.) He also loves cheesy 80s music. So away we went to Puntarenas. My goal was to spend as little time there as possible because it is trash-filled and not too safe. To explain how bad it is, we arrived at 9PM and took a panga to the floating dock WMD was ...
Golfito, Costa Rica wmdkim... it was too much!! everywhere you looked and everything around you was about tourists!! kirsten to say the least wanted to leave right away, but we hadn't seen the national park, so we made her just tough it out!! so the first day we just hung out and the second day there we walked all the way to the end of the beach where there were way less people and the water was less crowded. i ended up buying 3 hackysacks and am now learning to ...
Quepos, Manual Antonio and Playa Dominical, Costa Rica maiamuffin... was wonderful, cool, pretty, and tons of birds. Our resource person there was an ornithologist so we netted birds and got to take them out too! Many of the birds that we caught were hummingbirds, and they are hard to get out of the nets. It was amazing to see them so close and to hold onto them. It doesn't seem like they should be able to live as small as they are. We didn't do any projects at Cuerici, rather we focused on writing up all of the ...
Las Cruces, Costa Rica prunier... The boat hasn't seen the rain for many months now, and it is time to remove the thick layer of sea salt. The operation proved trickier than anticipated and it took 5 hours all together to dismantle everything, clean, re-grease and put the precision mechanics back together. The good news is that they are much easier to grind now and they are as good as new! We leave the anchorage in the evening, hoping to catch a little land breeze. There is less and less wind as we ...
Golfito, Costa Rica sebchant... by - so I saw a recommended soda and ducked in for a much needed lunch. After getting some groceries at the supermarket, I steeled myself for the trek back with all my new supplies (six pack, veggies, fruit, bottles of sauce, etc...) - waterfall shmaterfall. This walk seriously felt like the longest walk of my life. Around every corner I would think I was there - but ofcourse I wasn't. I sure as ...
