    ... around camp and then had a short paddle back to our pickup location. We fished some more but didn't have any luck. We later learned that we could have been using the leaches that attached themselves to us during our portages.

    All in all the trip was a success. We learned a lot about canoeing and how to communicate better while paddling! Who needs pre-marital counseling.... just go on a canoe trip together and try to get across the first lake!

    ... a bit further south to Temperance River State Park and walked part of the trail down past the waterfall to the rocky shore line of Lake Superior. We drove back to Grand Marais and enjoyed a beer on a roof top terrace listening to a local musician playing his country music.

    All too soon it was time to hit the road back to Thunder Bay after a great day out in the warm September sunshine.
