... fortress and town on a hilltop. The rain stopped while we were there so we could really explore the ruins of the old castle and we got one of those audio guide things as well. We looked like dorky tourists but it was sure nice to have an explanation of what some of the structures would have been used for! It was quite amazing...you can't take a bad picture there! Tomorrow we hope to get to Marseille if the weather is nice enough ...

We made a half day trip to Arles from Nimes by train.

Being a small village we were able to see most of what there was in the central part quite easily. There is the main arena, roughly the same size as the arena in Nimes, and also the Ampitheatre nearby, which is mostly ruins now.

Weekend trip to catch up with some mates.

We simply wandered around the streets of central Nimes, which is a small town with quite a large Ancient Roman influence.
Most of the time was spent around the Arena and the nearby streets, visiting cafes, restaurants and shops.
The 'icon' of this little town is a palm tree and a crocodile.

... out my voice a little bit. We were the youngest ones there by a great margin. That part wasn’t so bad and the people that talked to us were really nice. The music was definitely not in my vocal range, so a work out I definitely got! Laura is going to try another choir and see how that works… I think I may tap out. Not too many choirs in Montelimar singing pop songs. Montelimar Glee club anyone?
