... crafts undertaken by women in the community and the other 'telling the story of the Shakers' from its origins to its almost total extinction. Fascinating stuff when told by enthusiasts and knowledgeable experts.
By late afternoon we were heading off to our next motel in West Lebanon, little realising that it lies just outside Hanover, home to Dartmouth College, one of the Ivy League universities and colleges. We had to hunt out a Chinese restaurant there ...

... miles or so on to Rutland, a much bigger town hampered by major roadworks on Main Street. We reached our motel, the Highlander (the dearest and worst we've experienced so far). The family diner opposite did supply a splendid supper special of beef liver and bacon with mash n onions n gravy. Yummy, for me; less so for Steph, who went for a chicken stir-fry. Would have ordered grits, if we knew what they were!
A good day in pleasant sunshine. Probably freezing again ...

... then went across the street to the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park. Both are a must see if visiting the area. The town has lots of galleries, cute shops and wonderful restaurants. The Woodstock Inn has a beautiful Trent Jones golf course, spa, & racket facility. Only one night here then driving down to North Adams, Mass tomorrow to get on the Mohawk Trail and drive across the state to Boston. So sad to ...

Today's reruns of choice were episodes of NCIS, conveniently screened on the same channel as the Law & Order marathon from yesterday. Now we may have still had leftovers, and we may have still been chilling around the hotel until mid afternoon.
