... chicken) preparation was just as delicious as the delicate Neer-dosaas. Due to extreme hogging, the bloated omnivores were unable to reach the icecream parlour (Ideal Icecreams) in time. The taxi-man charged just 600 bucks for the entire 4 hours, which is rather reasonable for 5 people, and given that my humongous suitcase (and other luggage) was stuffed into the boot of the spacious, comfortable and rather rickety Ambassador.

We didn't take the normal or most direct route to Hampi, meaning
that we got to take in some less touristy parts. We got off the main
sleeper train at Guntakal Junction and transferred to the local
routes. This proved to be interesting to say the least, particularly as
we were back to travelling in the unreserved carriages which are always
really overcrowded and become a free for all - difficult when you're
carrying a massive backpack! ...
