Kia Ora Everyone! (see how my Maori language is coming along!)

Hope you haven't forgotten about us over here. Things have settled down a lot for us on a daily basis now that we both have jobs and the ski season is coming to an end. It’s been a fantastic month though so I thought it was worth dropping you a note to tell you all what life in Queenstown is like so you can feel like you are here too.

First of all our house is almost perfectly situated a 10 ...

... down to the river below is quite scary. That was actually the scariest part. Once you've jumped, there's no time to be scared anymore. He took my hand off the bridge and guided both of my hands in front of me and counted down 3, 2, 1 and away I went! It was such a rush! I screamed of course, but it was actually really fun! Not like anything I have ever experienced before. You rebound twice and then the boat comes over and ...

Adventure Capital of the World!

... to get worried that I might not make it. Even when I left Queenstown on my way to Te Anau the road was still closed - I needed it to open the next morning or I would miss out - nervous times. Te Anau is a little town on Lake Te Anau and is at the start of lots of tramping trails and the road to Milford. I arrived in this wee place and had a walk around the lake. It was beautiful but I didnt really want to spend an extra day here if the road didnt open so I kept ...

New Zealand Part 1

... I was in good hands and we were lucky enough to keep getting great gusts of wind so he made the most of it by swirling around just like a bird. The best bit though is the landing. I wasn't expecting it like that. You just go towards the ground at about 60mph and then hit the grass and your feet just trail around the ground behind. I screamed my head off with sheer joy! I couldn't stop laughing, I really wanted to do it all again. The man thought it was great that I loved ...

Return to Queenstown

... he was very brave, but he did make a disproportionate yell as he jumped which made people in the pod laugh. One girl was utterly terrified and was in tears all the time. She actually managed to do it though which everyone was impressed with and she got a round of applause when she'd been whinched back up to the pod. The days activities took longer than expected and we weren't sure whether to spend another night in Queenstown or whether to head to ...

... period, as well as cases filled with the different style bottles, labels, boxes and posters used to contain and market the rum during the last century. after completing the museum tour, we were taken around the actual distillery, where we were first taken into a gigantic shed, filled to the brim with a mixture of water and molases, and which absolutely stunk! next, we were walked through a plant filled with metal tanks, where the next stage of rum making takes place, where all the ...

Paddy's day and the most scared I have ever been.

... a long, long way down to the grey water of the river below. It takes 8 seconds between the time you jump and the nadir of your fall, when you are pulled upwards. That leaves about 5 seconds before the bungy kicks in. Five seconds of pure freefall. It is enough time to be patently, brilliantly aware of your acceleration and the ground rushing towards you. Even the fall after the first bounce is high enough to give you a proper freefall. It was a rush like no other I ...
