Northern Nelson
... the viewpoint we have to scramble over sharp black jagged rocks, a result of rain erosion, and are presented with a sheer drop at its edge. Very impressive but a bit of a mission to get there! Back at the van we have some lunch then drive back along the Canaan Road where some of the scenes with Aragorn and the Hobbits were filmed – no sign of any recent filming though…

Buying another car
... check done on it just to make sure. It costs $100. We were so glad we did, it revealed that the car needed about $500 spending on it just to keep it on the road, so with the new tyres as well it wasn't the car for us.

Last stop before North Island
Up at 6am to drive to Picton to catch the 3hr ferry to North Island. Alot of bendy roads as I drove over the Bryant Range. Took the Interislander ferry through the pretty Marlborough Sounds across to Wellington (the capital of New Zealand).
