Good facilities, beds are too soft for 2 people to sleep in but each room has a single so couples have the option of sleeping in 2 beds. Great service from the reception people and a fantastic common area for all the lodge residents to use - greaat if you are in a group of 8 or more

Just on the edge on town (5 minutes walk) this ski lodge has a great layout with individual blocks having anywhere from 2-6 bedrooms with a kitchen and living room in each. It's nothing spectacular but the price is good and the place is clean and has all the facilities you need.

I've never seen such low clouds before, we arrived at Lake Matheson from Franz Joseph and couldn't even get to see Mount Cook due to it being covered from top to almost bottom in cloud! The lake however, was beautiful as was the back drop despite the clouds it was stunning! Google it people! The clouds were on the move and soon so were we, it was a …

I woke up at 7.30, had breakfast, checked out and made my way to the bus stop. The bus journey is around 8 hours but it is absolutely stunning. I am not sure if I would put it on a par with the road to Kathmandu but I absolutely loved it.

The first part of the journey is fairly normal as you simply drive out of Christchurch and then …

Today the plan was to go skydiving so I got up at 8.30am and headed straight to reception to call NZskydive and find out what the situation. I was informed the day before they had not jumped for the 4 days but seeing the weather I was hopeful.

The lady made the call and unfortunately it was apparently too windy for them to jump so they …

Today was the trip to Milford Sound which is a fjord within Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. Now the technical definition of a Fiord or Fjord is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides, created in a valley carved by glacial activity or as I like to called "when sea meets mountains".

So I was up at around …

Queenstown - Action-packed Visit

This is a top pick!

Our journey to Queenstown was not such a pleasant one as the sky was overcast and we were peppered with intermittent showers - this was not helped by the fact that the driver's side windscreen wiper decided to give up the ghost and tear itself away from the main body! Approaching the 'Adventure Central' that is Queenstown, we got some good views …
