Yesterday we decided that we would hike Mt Washington. Today was the day.

Mt Washington, located the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is the tallest mountain in the Northeast. It is one of America's top ten most dangerous mountains to hike. At the summit, the highest ever wind was recorded at 231mph.

So, we got the deets and gear we needed, and prepared for our hike.

Although a fair distance from the Atlantic Ocean and any sea-dwelling creatures, we had the potential for altogether different encounters with wildlife here in the White Mountains. We'll, we aren't in Maine anymore. Today was all about travel. Our plan was to drive a few hours to Skowhegan, Maine, but we were there by lunch time so we just kept going. It was of course closed for the season (there's a lot of that going on here) so we carrried on and fortunately happened upon another one and then another one which was an old railway bridge, the last still in regular use in Vermont. ... the area without tourists backing up traffic and walking everywhere. They are why this area weathered the economic crash much better then other Maine towns we have seen in our travels. One two highways we counted all of the houses we saw and noted the ones falling down and abandoned and it was close to 40%. Yesterday driving we noticed that a town either looked like it was thriving or dying-not in between.
