At last I am in Africa. Alas not yet united with my bags! Seems as if KLM is known for off loading some bags when total aircraft weight is exceeded ... this w/o notifying the bags owners ... and then in a day or two the bags are reunited with their grateful! owners. Tarangire National Park
... a herd of impala moving through the camp this morning - they are very pretty animals but they sound like pigs grunting. Passed some elephants right next to the road on the way to Ngorongoro Crater this morning, and then got flagged down by a police car about 100 meters down the road. Weren't sure what was happening but he had pulled us over to make sure we had seen the elephants and got a chance to take a photo if we wanted to. Very helpful policeman ...
Hakuna Matata
... fair share of animals that included the big 5; lion, leopard, water buffalo, elephant and the elusive rhino. Seeing these amazing animals in their natural habitat, grazing or stalking their next meal was incomparably special. On a couple of occasions we came across lion cubs feasting on the carcass of a wilderbeast that the lionesses had just caught or leopards carting a gazelle up an acacia tree. Of course, these events attracted a lot of attention and before long ...
