After dinner last night with Peggy and Tim, brainy physicists that we met at Maritime, it was off to bed for a short night's sleep and continental breakfast with Brenda and Conrad before being picked up by Gino and taken to Joburg's Tambo International Airport to hop our short flight to Hoedspruit.

Beryl's nail scissors have traveled with her on countless domestic and international trips but they were confiscated here. ...

He tells us it is in the tree over there, so I look through the binoculars and sure ...

You could not get particularly close to the animals as they were all in enclosures due to injury (or other good reasons). We started with baby white rhino Gertjie (also known as little G). He is at the centre as his mom was killed by poachers when he was only a few months ...

... eating lunch, another lone buffalo was spotted across the riverbed watching us. Heading out on the evening drive there are now two vehicles but we go different ways but keep in radio contact. We hope to see the lions again this evening, the two males are still in the dense bush; they haven’t moved very far. After several minutes of watching them sleep, we radio the other group so that they can have their turn at getting close and personal with the lions. ...
