From there we made our way to the Hyatt place in Malta. I've never heard of it either but it was just down the road from Saratoga Springs. The hotel was another home run and so was dinner at Chianti II in Saratoga Springs. Then on Monday morning we were actually ready to see the park and the fall colors. We drove into the village of Lake George and were surprised to learn that the foliage was less than 20% turned so rather ...

When we got there, it turned out it was the wrong boat launch so, after looking at my map, Otto found the right direction and we were off in our kayak/canoe convoy. ... second pair somewhere around the area, most likely at the mine yesterday. After I manage to find a new pair of sunglasses, Alex was really hoping the same lady would be in the store so I would have to explain, we head out to the outfitters. We had the usual safety orientation as we took a bus ride to the river. We all carried the raft to the water and off we went. The scenery was beautiful and the water crisp. There was only one time when I thought I might be riding the rapids without ...

... the trail where we found a little for both of us. Being a real abandoned mine area, there were very high cliffs and rocky areas where one misstep could lead to a very long fall. Of course, Alex made a B-line for the high rocky areas, while I walked, mostly bent over, examining the rocks below. The area above provided for some excellent views, as I had to remember my parental duty to watch over the safety of my boy and scampered up the cliff myself to ...
