Kibale Forest to Murchison Falls National Park (Nile Safari Camp) Sunday June 15th, 2008. Kibale Forest to Murchison Falls National Park We headed out of Kibale at about 8am and were expecting the drive to Nile Safari Camp just on the edge of Murchison Falls NP to take about 8-9 hours. We were ready for another long day in the saddle - pity it ended up longer than we expected again. On the way out of Kibale Forest we spotted tonnes of baboons and then as we came around a corner we spotted thr...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda gilbertensteinMurchison Falls National Park Game Drive Monday June 16th, 2008. Murchison Falls National Park Nile Safari Camp is about 30mins drive from the ferry that crosses the Nile to the part of the park where the game driving is good. The ferry has a strange schedule but basically you need to get the 7am ferry or you have to wait until 9am for the next one. That means a 5:45am wake up :( Once we got to the ferry we had a flat tyre and had to change that on the other side but it gave us a chance to me...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda gilbertensteinAfter little sleep last night we got up at 5.30am so that we could go lion hunting/trekking due to not seeing them yesterday or last night with the spot light. After many hours of searching and driving around the park the lions were finally located. we were approximately 10 metres away from the lion cubs.. 9 in total.... wow amazing. I even have the photo;s to prove it. We then dropped our ranger (MASWA) off and headed to the Nile Safari Lodge for a meal and relaxation time before going on th...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda nansonderunAfter leaving the Nile Safari Lodge and a good nights sleep we headed through the park for one last look. Driving through the park we were lucky enough to see a Leopard - which ran across the road immediately in front of the car. No video or photo evidence of this due to it being so unexpected and quick. The Leopard was beautiful and graceful. We then completed our journey around the park and headed to SP's home - Arua. We arrived at the camp around 5pm and was greated with much excitement an...
Arua, Uganda nansonderunI left Kampala from Red Chili backpackers to go on a tour that they ran to Murchison Falls which cost $170 for 3 days. I was traveling with 7 other people 4 Canadians, 2 Germans and 1 other Brit. We got to Red Chili rest camp in Murchison Falls national park at around 5 after a long drive and we just chilled out and had dinner. We were told when we arrived that hippos came up to the camp to grace and whilst we were chatting during the evening a fully grown male was grazing about 10 feet away...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda richardcowley... but thankfully we were all more than satisfied to be sleeping under mosquito nets, even if it meant only 3 hours of electricity per day. Just long enough to charge the camera battery.
We arrived around 10:30-11:00 am, and lounged at the lodge until 3 pm. Brighton offered us bottles of water as we climbed into the vehicle. We were off to see Murchison falls, from the top!
Murchison Falls is a 43 meter water fall, which isn’t what makes it impressive. Rather, it ...
... use one of theirs and it also has dorm beds and single and double rooms available. It's a great place to meet other travelers and has pretty good food and plenty of cold beer. I spent a couple of days walking around Kampala, unfortunately, there's not much to see. One day I decided to go to the movie theater to see what was playing. I saw "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda jeneggener... felt like a 50 mile stretch of road with speed bumps every 10metres. I'm not sure my bottom will ever recover! That evening we ate dinner under a thatched hut without walls in the middle of the most awesome thunderstorm I have ever seen. It was amazing how quickly the weather changed: one moment clear skies and a beautiful sunset; next black clouds from which you could see a sheet of rain falling! When the storm arrived it felt like a scene out of ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda priya.akhurst... hiking. We have a lot of physical exercise waiting for us in the following days, surely... A 5 minutes walk to the top of the falls were enough. The forces of nature has been revealed to us, on its best and most beautiful parts. Powerful stream, containing tons of water, is considered as a part of the Victoria Nile, the part of the Nile River that starts in Lake Albert in western Uganda, on the border with Congo (Dem.), and ends somewhere around the ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda gsella... in a Banda (40,000/12pounds a night)- since the rest of the safari tents were booked up - but were glad we did with all the animals around! The last day , on the way back to Kampala, we did a chimp trek and therefore had to be on the minibus at 5.30am! so had to get ready by candle light since the electricity is only on from 7pm-midnight. Thankfully the trek was not too bad. It was mostly flat and only took 45 ...
