... The dunes were massive and I nearly had a coronary just climbing it but the whizzing down on a boogie board made up for it....it was important to keep your mouth shut !!!!!! The cape was again awesome the Maouri"s believe that this is where all the spirits of dead people come to jump off into heaven so it is highly regarded. The 3 days spent there were great although our camping location left alot to be desired ...a carpark in town!!! not pretty but FREE!!!!!!!!!!
From ...

Wczoraj ...
Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand kirst-leszek09... where I met 2 Indian girls from Birmingham…..good fun. In the clubs in here they seem to play a lot of Michael Jackson……a few tracks is ok but when they play his greatest hits album gets a bit whack.
Sunday morning caught the bus to Taupo via a few stopovers. Firstly we stopped at the government buildings and gardens which was ok….nothing impressive. We then went to the famous Wai-O-Tapu geothermal area. This was spectacular… ...
Wellington, New Zealand ravsta... of the buildings in these places are ugly timber structures that resemble the main street in American wild west films. Shops are painted in bright colours with large bold font and the streets (unlike high streets in England) are deathly silent. After driving for about 7 hours we finally saw the outskirts of the capital - Wellington.

In stark contrast with its ugly brother Auckland, Wellington has a lot of charm and ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand apoc100... down to the harbour or shorefront. The position of Wellington makes it victim for both northerly and strong southerly winds that whip up straight from the Antarctic and belt through the city, and across the hills. Having said all that, it is a picturesque city with wooden houses, brightly painted roofs poking out from lush verdant hillsides. Downtown Wellington has changed hugely in the last 16 years, or maybe it hasn't that much it is just me who ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand hess... A young male sperm whale breeched in the near distance. We had the chance to observe and take pictures. After about 10 minutes time they alerted us that he was about to breech and Jessica had already explained that at that point we would see him roll up out of the water and extend his tail as he dove. Indeed, he put on a good show! They tried to locate another whale but where unsuccessful. They did search out and find ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand jessnallie... least! However it did mean I got to spend some quality time with my 2 yr old cousin Cara watching the wiggles and doing finger painting. I'm well again now so that's all good and have spent the rest of the week visiting hundreds of cousins all over the south of North Island and staying at one of my cousin's "batch" or beach house at Waikawa. The weather has been amazing and the family get togethers hilarious ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand maevetilly... it more balance..." Probably a bad example but you get the point. Anyway, the trek was pretty cool... the landscapes looks like a hybrid of country farm and tropical island... it's like if Maine and Costa Rica got together for some drinks, had a few too many, shacked up, and had a kid... then sent that kid to live with Australia... then you'll have New zealand. I'm sorry if that offended anyone. So there you have it... pretty solid update right theyah. Seeya!! Brad
Punaruku, North Island, New Zealand bjmart33... got himself a netball skirt - needless to say, he declined the invitation! Friday 6/2/09 was Waitangi Day (NZ bank hol) and we spent a great few hours in the sun at a 20-20 Cricket game, with Otago beating Wellington very easily, which did not go down with the crowd. There were loads of people dressed up in fancy dress at the game, in readiness for the 7s later on in the day, which added to the carnival ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand peacock49... so we raced to the shop and bought some bait, frozen pilchards, and got the boat out onto the water. With two of us rowing we made it out quite far in no time and settled into some fishing. Now I've never been fishing any where at any time so this was all new to me, Lewis and I had just a line with a hook on the end and Leighton had his fishing rod.... Well after 3 hours out there I had caught absolutely NOTHING!! I could feel them nibbling and a ...
