... awesome Cajun restaurant followed by a steak and lobster dish from a restaurant in Okinawa Japan. Dam I love food!!! It was definitely the best food I’ve had cooked over a camp fire. Dinner was followed by some awesome TV time at the bar watching those wacky Japanese game shows where people try all those kinds of stunts over water or whatnot. A semi early night despite the great night!
Lusaka, Zambia travel_lover87... that) $20 USD for 10 liters. The BMW seemed to run with the stuff. I think that is was blended with kerosene because it costs bugger all.
There is a fuel shortage here in Zambia. Not much petrol so hopefully we can sort out petrol tomorrow. We are off to South luangwa national park tomorrow. Will split the day and camp half way because the trip is about 600 ks
All good
Cheers miles
In the morning we packed and went swiftly.. we thought we would get to Lusaka (the Capital) about midday and planned to eat lunch at a place called Ghandi's.. very nice Indian thalli’s and Chai.. stocked up with food and fuel and headed out..
It was approaching 5:00pm, through what felt like the middle of now where ...
... eating, a huge hippo charged out of the river and came running right towards us! Since hippos kill more people than any other animal in Africa, that was scary!
As we were getting in the land rover again to look for the lions, a big bull elephant came charging through camp. It was truly WILD there! We found the lions sleeping in the bush right behind camp, then went and found another pair of mating lions, more elephants, hippos, buffalo, and lots more. The ...
... next to a water hole and seeing the animals come for their morning or afternoon drinks is a very special experience. Another very special experience and a first for me was to follow a pack of wild dogs on foot. Unfortunately we lost sight of them when they started chasing after some impala. One should always remember that walking amongst wild animals is a dangerous activity and this is reinforced by the fact that several tourists are injured by ...

Crikey, you’re thinking. This Kariba Dam thing sure caused a lot of trouble. And you’re right. But wait! There’s more…
The actual construction of the dam itself was fraught with contentious issues. For starters, its being built on the River Zambezi rather than the seemingly more practical River Kafue was met with cries of opposition. Kafue ran closer to ...
... have been charged with the greatest number of human fatalities than any other animal in Africa. On land, we were not to approach them on foot, as hippos will charge anything they perceive as blocking their path back to the water. And in the water, we'd have to follow Martin's navigational instructions carefully; over the course of the next five days, he would knock on the bottom of his canoe at close intervals, which would wake submerged hippos sleeping on the riverbed ...
Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia stevecori... to see. We were lucky enough to also see hippos and a number of other elephants along the banks. I personally have never been a big animal fan but this was awesome or as one of my good mates would describe it, brilllliant! Walking with 12 month old lions; who thinks that is a good idea? No? Me neither. We'll it is offered as something to do in Vic Falls and you guessed it, Tash did it. Doesn't like ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe gregandtash... the airport for a long and painful conversation full of wishy washy talk in an office before the Zambian customs officials just decided on a seemly whim that yes, they could bring the medical packs into the country. Why the long drawn out process, I will never understand. Once they returned and we could see that we had not been deserted in this strange country, we had lunch before leaving for Kabwe. That was the last time we had food we truly ...
Lusaka, Zambia luvtogotrvl... down into it, head down, knuckles white. I kept thinking, I can't believe people do this. As we approached each set of rapids, our guide (who apparently does this every day???) would yell to us which way to swim. The urgency in his voice made us feel that it was REALLY IMPORTANT to get to the correct side of the river. So I really freaked out when my calf muscles seized up and I couldn't swim in any direction. I thrashed over to a rescue kayak and held on while my muscles ...
