Yesterday we got to the Black Sea, today we were taken out into the Danube Delta. Our host, Tavi had offered when we arrived, a four hour guided trip in his own boat. Tavi took us the thankfully short distance to the boat in ...

Maybe they could rename it the Ramada gives you plenty of exercise and drop the majestic bit. Breakfast certainly was plentiful, apparently it was served from 6.30 am. We woke at 5.30am to be ready for a 6am departure on a boat ride across a tiny corner of the delta. Near the town ...

... outdated editions. We located the only Budapest shop carrying Bikeline guides by contacting the publisher. Belgrade is totally devoid of any bike route maps except for local city rides. We could NOT even find a highway road map of Romania while in Serbia. We found a Bulgaria highway map but we didn't plan to go there. We mail-ordered Donau-Radweg #5; Belgrad zum Schwarzen Meer (in German because the new ...

... live there have become the Delta’s symbol. It is an absolutely fascinating place, changing in accordance to the river’s moods.

We had lunch at terrace restaurant along main street lining the Donau before finding and negotiating a 4.5 hr Delta boat tour. A handful of boatmen were lining the riverfront by their signboards advertising up to 6 different tour routes ranging from one to three hours.

          We ...
