      Good for what we needed

We had 6 girls in one room. Very little room between the beds. Seems much more efficient to have bunk beds instead of single beds. But we only needed to sleep. Pillows also pretty bad. But again... Only needed to sleep. Upside of 2 showers and having nyala on our door step the last morning

Had a great time, but its also a lot of hard graft and most certainly not for bunny huggers or anyone adverse to meat or the occasional dead animal.. Well worth the visit.

Our rain check on Kruger could not have been more successful. An early wake up and 5am departure had us in the park and 'safari-ing' as the sun rose. Being our first experience with Kruger we had been warned that there was a possibility of seeing nothing. It's the luck of the draw. But my goodness was luck on our side today. First of all and most …

      Kloofing and Moholoholo

Today was another amazing day! The morning, one of the best. We went kloofing in Blyde River Canyon, which is a combination of caving, canyoning and rock jumping. The landscape and scenery was amazing and was a great South African adventure to experience. We did 4 rock jumps, the highest being 11m. We ended the adventure in a small village within …

... around a bit more but are unsuccessful with finding other game, so we stop for our sundowners. We head off and John spots some rhino tracks. We drive around a bit and John spots the lone white rhino. We go crashing through the bush and get close enough to the rhino to get pictures of his backside and it relieving itself as though telling us what he though of us! Eventually, we do maneuver around so that we get a good view of his face and horns. It’s getting ...

... vehicles and "warm water pads" in the mornings to help keep it comfortable. Wearing a bandanna around your face like a gaiter, hats and gloves were a must. After a couple of drives we all got down our layering and made it much more pleasant for the rest of the trip.

During the day it was pretty hot (approx 27 degrees Celsius). This involved wearing short sleeves and luckily there are no mosquito at this time of year. I ...

Elephants get drunk and knock over trees

... a while then Lamby told us about how Elephants can be particularly dangerous under certain circumstances. When they are grieving; they will revisit the same spot a loved one died and mourn, some have even been known to shed a tear. The other example is when they're drunk. Yes, drunk. They eat the fruit of the Amarula tree which ferments in their stomach producing alcohol which then makes them angry drunks! They don't knock over trees because they're drunk ...
