Had a great time, but its also a lot of hard graft and most certainly not for bunny huggers or anyone adverse to meat or the occasional dead animal.. Well worth the visit.

... who were at the centre. They came to the centre last November after being sedated, having their horns removed (which involves pulling out the entire nasal cavity), and being left for dead. They were found by rangers and brought to the centre for medical care. In the pictures you will see that one of the rhinos still has a bandage across her nose as they are having trouble getting it to heal. They can never be sent back out into the wild. Evening ...

... to cock their rifles unless the animal moves toward them and they cannot commence shooting until the animal is 15 meters away. They have never had to shoot an animal while on a walking tour. Identified more plants and talked about the various old bones of buffalo that littered the ground before getting back to camp for breakfast.

Each safari drive brought its own unique adventure, and Jason soon came to the mistaken belief that he had earned the title of junior ranger. This was brought on in no small part by Jason’s spotting of what he thought to be a hippo in a watering pond. Unfortunately, Kim had no qualms with informing Jason that what he ...

... not have this system and they are not allowed to 'off road' into the bush to get near to the animals. To find out where the animals are drivers flag each other down and let each other know what they have seen. A lady flagged us down to tell us there were some lions under some trees about 5km ahead. Off we went!

The sun was very hot so the lions were sleeping under a tree about 50m away from the road side. You could only just make out their bodies in ...

... said he would be on the ground as they only go into trees after a kill (they drag their prey into a tree to eat it so they won't be bothered by lions). We went down into a low lying area with no "road" and I'm surprised the jeep didn't flip or get a flat tire. Trees are in the jeep, thorn branches everywhere, and ROCKS! Talk about bumpy. You have to lay down on the seat unless you want your face to get cut up by thorn bushes. I got smacked in the face with a tree ...
