Day 22 - Gatlingburg - Tennessee
... shiny outfits and tricks performed on horseback and even a pig race! Hilarious night, but sadly no pics allowed, would have loved to share some of the outfits and images. Never mind I'm sure a quick google search by anyone interested will turn up some suitably corny pics. PS I saw a ground hog today! I thought they were just made up but apparently not, there's actually a mid winter ceremony just like the movie, who'd have thunk ...
Day 21 - Gatlinburg - Tennessee
... in for a big long coach ride back to Tennessee, this time to the east side to a place called Gatlingburg. I've been told that Gatlingburg is hillbilly country. I don't know if that's true but I know it certainly doesn't disappoint. The accents here are fantastic! I swear the town's shuttle bus driver could have provided inspiration for fog horn leg horn. I promise, no word of a lie, that when ...
Bagel stop!
After leaving Philadelphia for about 5 to 6 hours we stop in Knoxville, Tennessee at what is called the Best Bagels in Town. They serve over 20 varieties of bagels and 30 varieties ...
Beautiful time of year to be visiting!
... it (their second time, after they tried it for the first time last November in Kissimmee).
We learned during our visit that it was PEAK time to see the changing leaves, and they were GORGEOUS! (See my main blog picture for a great example of the colors...was ideal at the bottom of the mountains, but as we went up, the trees had already lost their leaves...)

Boogerman Trail
... foliage. Leaves in every shade of red, orange, yellow, pink, and peach brightened the landscape and made for a very relaxing and enjoyable hike. We even found another giant tulip poplar, this one with a hole in the back, so it was not as obvious from the trail. And the hole went all the way up with light coming in at the very top. Continuing on, the trail twisted around before starting to head back down ...

Major dissapointment
The pictures on the website are very deceptive! We could have stayed in a new condo for the price we paid for the townhouse. This place needs major updates and safety features. The parking situation is terrible.
This was a first and last time experience for 5 people.
Best place to stay
My husband and I drive down every year on our anniversary and we always stay at Midtown Lodge. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and the staff is very helpful and pleasant. In the heart of Gatlinburg, it is convenient to all the best shops and restaurants. Thank You Midtown Lodge ,We'll seeyou next year! The Barnes
A Great Place to Stay!
My husband and I and our lovable collie mix dog had a very pleasant stay at the Midtown Lodge! Our room was very clean and spacious! It had a little kitchen area and a fireplace too! We found their staff to be incredibly friendly & helpful! The location of Midtown Lodge was perfect. Right in the middle of town, but still quiet and we had a view of the mountains! We highly recommend the Midtown Lodge!
Our favorite place to stay!!
We have stayed at the Midtown Lodge during our several visits to gatlinburg. Not only is it a great place to stay, but the convience is a HUGE plus. You can park your car when you check in and not move it the entire time you are there. We normally stay in one of the townhouses, but have also stayed in a standard room. Both of which are spacious and meet our needs for our family. The staff is always nice and willing to accomodate with anything you may need. I would recommed to anyone to stay at the Midtown Lodge ~ I guarantee the next time they visit Gatlinburg, they will not want to stay anywhere else.
Run Down1
We have stayed at the Midtown Lodge in the past. The prices were reasonable which helped make up for the shappy appearance. Last week when we called to reserve, the prices had gone up drasticly. When we drove through the lodge a few days ago we were glad we didn't reserve. It was very run down. Hard to believe, in the middle of Gatlinburg. Surprised the Chamber of Commerce allows. We found a wonderful place on a stream for 50. a night.
Good Hotel
Midtown Lodge is a nice place to stay, but not great. The rooms were clean, but the decor needs some updating. We stayed in a jacuzzi suite, which didn't have a view at all. Both of the windows opened to walkways and walls. The suite had mirrors everywhere, including overhead. That just wasn't our preference. We expected a disco ball overhead, but we weren't able to find one. You cannot beat the location. If I were to return, I would stay in one of the newer areas of the hotel. I would stay there again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
One of Our Favorites Places
We really enjoyed our stay at Midtown Lodge. The rooms were really nice, our room was on the top floor in the tower and we had a wood burning fireplace and had plenty of wood at our front door. The staff is very freindly and our room was large with a kitchen and we had a great view of Gatlinburg. We brought our two Chihuahua's and one of our dachshunds. They had a great time too. It is nice staying there because of the great location. You don't have to drive to get around. I would recomend this place to go and have a great time and not have to pay real high prices. We also love to rent a cabin in the mountains, but that will have to be in another review.
Cool place
Midtown Lodge is a great place to stay when you're in the Smokies. It is very convenient to area attractions and the rooms all have a good view. The prices are reasonable and the staff is always very helpful and friendly! It's always our first choice.
The best place to stay in downtown Gatlinburg
The Midtown Lodge is very convenient to anything downtown. We had a beautiful, clean room! They do accept pets and thats a big plus for us, because our dog goes to gatlinburg whenever we go:) The staff was very nice to us, and the gift mall is very convenient also! For anybody that loves to people watch, this is a great place to do that!!!!! Their rates are not to high and thats another big plus. I would recommend the Midtown Lodge to anybody that I could!!!!!!!! I have stayed at Midtown Lodge twice, and fell in love with it......I do plan to return:)
