from Wanaka to Haast - a scenic wonder trip

Wanaka/Makaroa/Haast - The area toward Wanaka turns from the rolling farmland and soon the mountains in the distance become a closer reality. You are entering the mountain ranges. The holiday home area of Shania Twain where she has purchased a large tract of land for her get-away place. As you will note coming into Wanaka it seems as if it is all up for sale. More real estate signs than properties. When you get to Wanaka you will see why so many people flock here. Just before Wanaka are two v...

... greeting driver and scoure bus for any fellow normal people. 2. Congregate with those located and chill out and go with the flow. 3. Drink goon in the evening and ***** about the continentals. 4. Have fabulously good time and think the Europeans are not so bad really - its just their manner and everything gets lost in translation anyway and sure isn't it all great. The Stray Bus is that - it is great - there's a mix of all ...

Day 18 - Whitianga, east coast Coromandel peninsular Continuing eastwards across the coast, we stopped at Otama beach, a long deserted stretch of white sand - we felt as though it was our own private beach a spent the entire afternoon relaxing before heading to Whitianga, a small town although bigger than Coromandel ...

... muses who were fantasticOhmygodTheyreamazing-Iloveyouk ristinyourethebestever! OMG. I did, in my own quiet way, get very emotional. Wellington is very cool, definitely the best city out here. Good weather as well for once. Flew from Welly to Queesntown and spent my eventful time there before ending up here in Auckland. its ok here, it seems rather featureless and lacks character though. Im sure theres plenty to do here but Im ...

Hot Beaches! Kayaks! Narnia!

Folks gather, shovel in hand and dig a little hole in the sand, sit in it and enjoy the delights of hot spring water, up to 64 degrees celsius (scorchio). As the tide turns the sea comes back up the beach and covers the site, but for four hours or so (twice a day) you can enjoy the hot baths. We borrowed a ...

A waiting game

... back I spent an hour potting plants with Katrin before lunch. Piet has found me an old mobile phone handset to use - I can only use it within New Zealand but it's really nice to feel connected again. It poured down with rain all afternoon so we stayed in. Tuesday 27th May The rain continued again today, so this morning Katrin and I were potting plants in the shed, and raking leaves during the gaps in the rain. The afternoon was a lazy one due to the ...

... comfortable. Sunday 11th May I woke up in the car as soon as the sun started to rise. Maelenn was able to sleep for longer, and I felt very guilty that I had to wake her up so that she could move into the passenger seat and I could drive us home, however I needed time to pack. We dragged our muddy selves through the door in the mid-morning, and the post-festival shower was absolute bliss! I was quite tired so after packing was happy just to ...
