Billie: Its big. We walked part of the South Kaibob trail. 1.5 miles long, 1200 ft down. Packed too much water, guidelines for summer, not March. Bus tour second day. Met a great couple from Iowa. Only 4 people on the bus. 4 hour tour. 1.25 hour at a scenic stop. Relaxing, but wouldn't recommend it or do it again. Driver was very friendly. Heater in apartment was on overdrive. no solution, but to open windows. no internet, but it was very nice. food was good and reasonably priced.

We were told the previous night that sunrise would be at 7:01am, but, just in case the sun sneaked up early, I set my alarm for 6:15. As it goes, the sun didn't sneak up, and as you can imagine, Weffy wasn’t over the moon about the unnecessary early wake up.
Again, the views of the sun rise over monument valley were amazing and well worth getting up for. After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and headed towards the Grand Canyon. We stopped at a few ...
Yesterday we flew to Los Angeles at 12pm and arrived at about 3pm local time. However, we had to wait for a plane to leave before we could get off. It took us ages to clear the airport and then we had to get a bus to the Alamo car hire place. They were really slow there too and finally 2 and a half hours later we hit the road, straight into LA rush hour. LA is vast and the traffic is mental. 3 hours later we finally reached our hotel in Palm Desert, the Marriott Desert Springs Resort. The hot...
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States hannah0After arrived at LV, we got a rental car to drove to Grand Canyon right away. It was smooth drive, and we stopped by Hoover Dam on the way, and finally got to hotel on site at late night. Next day, we hiked down through Bright Angel trail but got back pretty quickly without hitting 1st water stop. I will go back there with "stronger" buddy next time to hike all the way down to the river.
Grand canyon nation park, Arizona, United States iiiwaterWe arrived in LA after a long flight and picked up our hire car from Avis. As I had driven in the States before I did the first stint of the drive and then we took turns on the 4 and a half hour drive to Laughlin which was about half way to our first real destination of the Grand Canyon. The drive was fairly uneventful with the exception of a family of 5 raccoons crossing the road in front of me and nearly getting squashed. Laughlin is in the gambling state of Nevada and is a casino town. It ...
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States jason_m_smithFor the past few days we have surrendered ourselves, freely and completely, to the tourist machinery of the Grand Canyon. We had the foresight, many weeks ago when we were planning this trip, to realise that we might be in need of a break from driving once we had been on the road for a few weeks. So we booked ourselves a railway package for visiting the Canyon. We haven't driven the car for 2 entire days! Hope we still know how (although driving an automatic isn't too much of a challenge)... ...
Williams, Arizona, United States lauravanwaasOn our way from Vegas to the Grand Canyon today we stopped at our very first Walmart in Kingman. We then drove on to Seligman, the birthplace of Route 66. We then drove on to the Grand Canyon, taking in an Imax show about the Canyon on the way. Oct 7th - Today was our 45 minute helicopter tour of the canyon! We all took heaps of photos from this great view before we landed then walked around the rim of the canyon.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States lisa_82That night I dream of the boy in the coolie hat and kilt, though of course he isn't wearing those things in the dream. I'd been thinking that I was proud of his bravery and of his mother for her acceptance of it (we saw her with him and you could just tell she didn't have a problem with his clothing choices). Anyway, the kid in the dream isn't fitting in at school and somehow I get involved to help him. Then it turns out we are in England and he's from the Netherlands and wants to go back hom...

... we drove to Grand Staircase National Monument. I became a Junior Scientist there! We drove through Zion on the way home.
Mamaw took me to get my hair cut and styled when we got home at a Beauty Shop! Now Mamaw and I both have spiked hair! I swam and met some new friends when we got back to the RV.
Tomorrow, we head on towards Bryce Canyon.
... twirling them around like little twisters. Then there are sudden bursts of raindrops on the windshield... Nothing made me drive like nuts than the fear of getting caught in a twister! I looked at my mobile phone... no signal....making me realize even more that we were out on our own.... I-40 where are you???!!!!
Seven hours later, we finally arrive at the site of our Grand Experience.... WELCOME TO THE GRAND CANYON!
