The Lodge was very simple and located very close to the Grand Canyon. The rooms were clean but a bit small for 4 persons and luggage.

Headed out for the canyon this morning. Took the route to come in from the east side, and through the Navajo Nation.

Lunch was at Cameron Trading Post. Well worth the trip to get there. Food was outstanding, and tasted like my childhood memories of having fry bread at the state fair.

Stopped to see the Desert View Watchtower. …

A leisurely morning waiting for one of the eagerly anticipated highlights of the trip-a helicopter ride!!

We drove to the Grand Canyon airport and watched the helicopters leaving and returning whilst we waited for our slot. There were 7 passengers on the flight with pilot Danny. Alex and I got to sit in the front, Thomas and Ian at the …

We drove from Flagstaff, Az to the south rim of the Grand Canyon today. A worker at the hotel recommended that we drive up through the forests on Hwy 180. She also recommended the National Geographic imax film outside the entrance. We took her up on both suggestions and they did not disappoint. The imax film was great and lasted 20 minutes. …

Just spent an amazing 24 hours at the Grand Canyon. Stayed at Maswik Lodge in Grand Canyon Village, up early (in -7 degree temp) to see the sunrise. Lunch at Bright Angel Lodge and a short walk around the canyon rim. Highlight was the amazing helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. Amazing! Pics and videos on Facebook.

As we turned down the first path toward the desert view point, I couldn't believe we were at the Grand Canyon. I couldn't wait to see it! We pulled into a large parking lot, and it cracked me up that there was a gas station right there immediately. It is quite the treck to the Canyon from the base of the mountain...
