... of our wing of the hotel were seven elk. They gave us a bit of a fright, but I was unable to get a good photo of them in the dark, so we went outside again and turned on the car headlights to try to get a better shot, which I did. I checked out the window of the hotel room a few times, and they were happily sitting in the same spot. Pat later checked and they had disappeared…. The forecast is for snow overnight!

... Rich was on sabbatical at the University of Colorado. Amazingly enough, the same owners were there, but for some strange reason they didn't seem to remember us. Great meal (perfectly cooked rack of lamb for Rich, and fine Wiener Schnitzel for the others), and lots of trips down Memory Lane for the three old friends while Rebecca gamely contributed to the conversation when she could get a word in edgewise.
