... Atalaya. 30 mins later we were in a town called Pilcopata where we had lunch. It was here where we picked up the boat drivers who went ahead to try and find an early car to Cusco and another guy who was going to Cusco (there is no real Public Transportation so people get rides where they can). Most of the trip I listened to music and was in a semi-sleep. We only stopped in one other town for a quick break, Paucartambo. Then 7 or 8 hours later we ...

· This morning was a really busy one. There was a problem with amongst the workers who clean the rooms and they wanted Claudia to handle it. So, I had them talk to her online and they seem to have worked something out with her although I do not know what. It was really hot this morning but that quickly went away when it started to downpour.

· The most interesting news is that Claudia is starting a mini vacation tomorrow and because of that Jeff and I have obtained new jobs. Starting tomorrow we will now be the two managers of the lodge. Jeff will be responsible for greeting the tourists, giving the briefing, and making sure the rooms are all squared away before and after arrival. My job is to be the liaison in a way to the office in Cusco ...

... Macaws from a shore opposite the island while the Macaws followed a boat. The morning was alright but Jim did not get that many good shots out of it. The afternoon was a ton better with the Macaws following really well and Jim got a few good shots out of it and sent us into tomorrow on a high note for filming.

· This morning, we were again successful in calling the Macaws to the tower, but when we tried to get them to follow a boat from the tower they were having none of it. So, it was decided that we ...

They do not yet now which branches are strong enough for them to land on or how high they are capable of flying. However, there are other Macaws around who the younger ones can watch and learn from. Today was a very good start for the ...

... clay-lick, Jeff stopped abruptly in the middle of the path and I am almost knocked him down while asking what happened. It turned out that one of the workers had been fishing near our path and placed a large catfish, probably about three feet in length and about thirty pounds, right in the middle of the path and Jeff had almost stepped on it. Needless to say we were dumbfounded as to how a fish got so far up on dry land until we ...

... Tamarins in the trees. I did not see them from the boat, although Jeff said he was able to, but right after we got to the dock I ran down the trail that they had been on with Santos right behind me. With his help we found the monkeys and what path they were headed on. I only caught a short glimpse of two of them here but I then cut around onto a different path were I thought they were basically heading. Here I was able to watch about 5 Tamarins ...

... was eating breakfast. Luckily when I returned to the enclosure Jeff had been able to get the Macaw down out of the tree and Santos grabbed it with his shirt carrying it back into the enclosure. We then fixed the large hole that we found and continued with the feeding. We were lucky that the Macaw was hungry and that it was friendly enough with us that it came right down to Jeff. It was a real nice scare to start the morning off with.
