... are in africa with the heat and the dry land and not a mountain in sight.
I haven't seen Timone or Pumba yet but elephants and rhino are high up on the list of possibilities here. Luckily, we arrived ahead of the National strike, which means no vehicles can get around during the day - fortunately we are spending tomorrow in the park so it doesn't cause a problem ...
... a rhino or tiger!
Our guide against river line forest.
We spent the first two days on a jungle walk through the park; a great way to see wildlife up close. We really lucked out and got the best guide in all of Sauraha, and all of Chitwan for that matter! Nakul, our ...

Vais me baigner a un moment car j'ai trop ...
... more deer. Then there was a big rush to head in a different direction. We, along with about 10 other tourist clad elephants, had a rhino surrounded. Amy and I thought it was good to see the rhino, but I don't think Johan was really enjoying himself.
After all that monkeying around we decided to rent bikes the next day and have a picnic at 20,000 Lake. We were warned to be careful on our way as we passed through jungle ...
... the early morning dew, watching a crocodile swim to the far shore of the river maybe 100 feet away to sun itself. We walked through what were barely paths, winding through grass so high you could see nothing else and plants that covered us in seeds and burrs that I was still picking out of my clothing days later (and after putting them through the laundry).
The owner must have stressed to the guide that I wanted to ...
... a monkeys that 15 elephants with people on were surrounding them!!
Other than the wildlife the national park is home to a couple of small communities who are all very welcoming and friendly. This attitude is the same for much of the people in Nepal, which just feels a lot more relaxed and quiet than India! Although i'm probably saying that because i'm in a national park and not a major town!! ;-)
... re there. Although I'm pretty sure this rhino was there for its daily 3pm snack, we approached deer as well that just continued grazing as if we weren't there. We had tried approaching the same deer on foot and they went prancing off into the bush.
The so-called wildlife sightings were a bit of disappointment, but the near wildlife sightings were not. Of the many planned activities, by far the best was a ...
... We agree. Julie gets picked up because she has pre-booked her Jungle tour in Kathmandu. Mo and I don't stay at the hotel we've been taken to so we carry our backpacks to the next hotel and we run into Julie checking in. We also check in it's the new riverbank in and the rooms were gorgeous room going for about $10 dollars Canadian a night. Sometimes things work out. Julie shares Mo's passion for cats and they began spoiling the 2 cats that hung around ...
Royal Chitwan, Nepal mo_mikeThis was my first time to go to a national park to watch animals in their natural living conditions, so I didn't really know if I’ll like it or not but at least the safaris on elephants sounded cool and the idea of you going to see the animals in their natural habitat rather than the animals being brought and enclosed in zoos sounds reasonable. In Chitwan they should have animals such as rhinos and crocodiles, as well as some rarer ones like wild elephants and tigers, which are ...
