Lilongwe

A travel blog entry by afrikaeskapade

Vi kom til Lilongwe i Malawi efter en lang bustur fra Lusaka til graensen og en minibus fra graensen til Lilongwe. Busturen var ikke saa komfortabel, og Sandra endte med at have det stramt.

A quick stop in Lilongwe

A travel blog entry by burles

After a few days at Kande, we were off again. We made our way to the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe. There isn't much in Lilongwe, but we needed to go to the Mozambique embassy to get transit visas for Mozambique. Unfortunately, we got to the embassy a few hours too late, and it wasn't enough time to allow for our visas to be processed. With our luck …

After a quick overnight ferry ride and 9 hour bus (!) we arrived in Lilongwe the capital of Malawi. We spent a couple of days eating chese and meat, catching up on emails and planning our remaining days in the country. The capital was nice enough, it was great to have some electricity and hot showers and Davo was finally able to get his hair cut!< …

    Not quite up to scratch

Very average food, filthy chair coverings and airless dormitories. Plus only two showers and toilets to share between everyone. Not impressed.

brilliant place, nice accomodation with friendly and helpful staff. always something happening and plenty of people from all over to chat to, or if they arent very interesting it is easy to get to other places in lilongwe. swimming pool, can get laundry done (but dont mix bright colours up in a bag!), good variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners in the on site restaurant would recommend it to anyone.
