Slept in a bit today then I went for a short stroll to check out some of the scenery. We left the national park at 1pm and resumed our drive. Chile is definitely one of the most scenic places I’ve been. It’s very green and some of the forests look like something out of Jurassic Park.



We also managed to bait Ben and a few others into a political debate. This kept us entertained ...

We left the bus and the rest of the tourists in a town called Esquel where we spent the night before attempting to head over into Chile by bus and on to our destination, Futaleufu. We made it most of the way to the border and to a town called Trevelin which, bizarrely, has a big Welsh population with dragon flags and tea rooms everywhere before public transport ...

Being tired from the previous few days, we did not start biking before 3pm today. We only had about 65km to the National Park Los Alerces. The beginning was quite hard as the weather was at its hottest and we progressed very slowly. We suffered a lot on a slow and long 4km climb exposed to the sun. Well what a great week. The kayak trip was basically loads of rain wind and hard work, but would I do it again? Definitely!

Firstly the day before the trip, when we were due to white water raft, Steph pulled a muscle in her lower back putting on her pack. She was in a fair bit of pain and was pretty upset as it looked like we may not be able to do the kayak trip.
