    ... with their siblings (similarities with ours abound) while the parents enjoy the onsen and clean themselves. We watched the monkeys until it became too cold and then back on the bus and back to Nozawa Onsen.

    We’d bought some groceries during the day and used the kitchen back at the Lodge to cook up some soba noodles with Pork. Not as good as the local restaurants but the kids enjoyed a night in.

    ... herself in not falling and Campbell has improved immensely in the last few days. Given this, we hiked the final 30 metres to the start of Skyline (which is roped off this time of year). Skyline is a beautiful ridge run, lots of fast places and then turns into the top of Karaswa which is a 2km cruiser to the Lodge. The kids skied it brilliantly and it was with a warm sun on our backs when we took our skis off for the last time and returned to the Lodge.

    ... specialty Shinshu Apple KitKats! Now all we need to find are the seasonal, carrot-flavored KitKats we have read about, and our quirky KitKat quest will be complete!

    ... hard to explore the temple area, so after watching some of the ceremonies we leave and will come back tomorrow.
    The rain holds out for the procession, but it starts to drizzle as we leave the temple. Cant complain as we have been really lucky with the weather.

    ... with sliding paper screens, with a hearth set in the flood to burn some charcoal to keep the cold at bay. Blankets rather than central heating and all set against a backdrop of forested mountains and Buddhist temples. The international villa certainly lived up to its promise.
