Osa Peninsula, Oh So Pretty!

... I spotted a sign for Jagua gift shop with an arrow pointing left. Al and I both love artisan places so we headed there and found the best craft shop I have seen in a long time. Its owned by an American guy and his Costa Rican wife. They are both artists and deal a a lot with the local tribes in the area. The items are all really well made and all come with a little note explaining the tribe who makes the items and how they are made. After spending close on two hours in there we ...

... the ocean and
an outdoor shower and bathroom. Pavones is tiny, everyone is there for
one reason only, the surf break. If you are not surfing you are
watching the surf. The break is left so you surf down and then walk
back up the beach and start over. Eric had a good day surfing but I
think we both spoiled by the perfect surf in Nicaragua.

Life is GRAND!!!

... they decided that i had no idea where i was going and we decided to turn around cause it was getting dark. We back tracked to this part where we could drag the kayaks over a ridge to the ocean and we surfed to waved with the kayaks! On the way back to return the kayaks we noticed that there were lights in the water and they were photoplanktin. they make light when there is movement so with ever stroke theres thinks lit up the water like stars ...

Corcovado Jungle Trek, day 2/3

... stuff on a low pebbly island in the middle of the river, diving in, then happening to look back at our stuff, this island had virtually disappeared, and Monica's stuff, including her camera, was now partly submerged! Unfortunately it now won't turn on, and it was a relatively new camera. It is crazy how fast the tide comes in there, you can literally watch the water level rise! At this stage I should mention the usefulness of our guide ...

so much to catch up on..

Oh wow...so much has happened on this trip so far. We spent a month in Dominical, met some great people and had an amazing first month that flew by. We've been on the go since the first of this month. We spent a few days in Manuel Antonio, it was one of the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen. Although it was expensive and really crowed, i felt like i was in Mexico or something. We spent our days in ...

Guaymi Family

Tomorrow I leave Drake`s Bay :( and head off to stay with a Guaymi`s family. I am very excited to do this. It exceeds my budget by going there but, I hope it will be worth it. To get to the family, its a 2 hour horse ride each way. I just hope that its not raining. Its rained all day yesterday and it looks very cloudy today. The bus leaves here at ...

Corcovado National Park and El Remanso

... the way back to the park entrance. Neither of us had ever hiked in such a downpour before. At first it was fun, but after a while of walking in soaking wet shoes and clothes, it was more like torture. A small distraction was seeing a really cute red squirrel on the tree, that was doing poses waiting for us to take a picture of it, but we were just too tired and it was too wet to get out the cameras (sorry, squirrel). We dragged ourselves the last few kilometers ...

Bocas/Pueto Jiminez

... some other travelers I met. The ranger station said there's no openings until Sat. Totally booked. After doing some research I found out that there's an indigenous family that I can stay with and follow their daily living routine. My book says getting there is half the fun. I get to go horse back for 2 hours and during the rainy season its really adventurous (thats the season right now). I wasn´t able to go there until Thursday so I figured out the bus schedule to get to Drake´s Bay.
