... a cosy first night. The rest of the weekend consisted of raking up pine needles, long walks in the woods, fires by the lake and lots and lots of delicious food. On arrival back in Ottawa on Monday the weather was, again, beautiful and I set about raking up lots of leaves from the back yard - now up to 16 bags since the start of 'fall'! I am thankful for family, friends and opportunity :-) ...

... to an ATM so being strong willed we went over the road to the Metro bought some potato salad for dinner bread and sliced ham for lunches. Drove down to to the Wharf and had lunch still a bit cool. The first wharf dated back to 1904 but this one is a floating pontoon for small boats and there is a boat slip next to it. ... the cabins to No. 16 parked the poor old dusty Pontiac near the pit (outdoor fire) and chairs and went inside the cabin. The Owner Heather gave us this larger cabin for the same price as a small cabin on the shoreline as that was booked the first night we arrived. No. 16 is a big 2 bedroom with lounge, gas fireplace, kitchen and bathroom. We traveled to Bancroft to visit our old Farmhouse neighbours Shane and Beth on Remembrance Day. Easy to remember because the town of Apsley closed the road we were driving on for a memorial service and, unable to continue, we got out of the car to watch the service and remember.

Shane and Beth have been renovating what was once their rugged cottage on a beaver pond into a comfortable primary residence. ...
