On May 10, 1910 William Taft signed legislation to establish Glacier as the 10th National Park. This place is pretty spectacular. The engineering marvel Going to the Sun Road which is built along portions of the Continental Divide opened in July 1933 and is incredible to ride. Not going to write too much, because all you really have to see are the pictures.
Supposed to be one of the most scenic drives in the US, the Going-to-the-Sun Road bisects Glacier National Park and provides access to most of the best hikes, and also to some spectacular scenery. Met the other cyclist in the parking lot in Kalispell. Received our maps and route for the day. After filling our water bottles and grabbing some snacks we headed out into traffic. The ride was nice and flat. The lunch was great; we stopped by a river. Rode into Lack Mc Donald Lodge around 4:30 and went down to the lake for a beer. Had a great dinner - buffalo steak.

Sheriff, Amtrak station agent, and hotel security all at work on my backpack but no sign of it. I imagine the items have been parceled out and sold for drug money by this time. It was a big blow, but I am not going to let it "derail" my trip!
