... nearly an hour - because he was in no rush to serve me, lol - and listening to the various languages and accents. The English menu (that he had virtually thrown at me) was very out of date and I ended up paying 6 euro for my waffle(!!!) but I was later told this experience is common in Brussels.

After playing two sets, the Hot Club left the stage, but was urged back for an encore, and then – due to the mad stamping of feet and incessant applause – was lured out for a second. I could have stayed and listened to them all night, but, alas, all good things must come to an end, and I slowly made my way home to the depths of Schaerbeek, humming Django's Minor Swing and Dark Eyes long into the night.

... it was also filled with delightful surprises. So far one of the great gifts of our trip had been the hotels.
