The Land Before Time
On arriving into Arusha we tagged on to someone's safari jeep airport pickup and got a free lift to our L'Oasis lodge. The hotel was not as glamorous as the guidebook made out. No backpacker rooms available due to refurbishment, no big screen as advertised and the swimming pool had a leak! We did get a chalet at backpacker rate but even with this …
Arusha
Today was our first day of venturing into the wild! The weather in Tanzania is a tiny bit chilly but it feels very tropical. It is their winter now, but I guess it's about 65 degrees fareinheight. There is a crown-crested crane that hangs around the hotel. His name is Henry, and we learned that he lost his one and only mate, so he sometimes stares …
En drøm gått i oppfyllelse!
Where to start!?
Alluring Arusha
On the first day, our guide Fitiael picked us up from the airport. He was really easy going and nice. I liked him right away! I was staring out the window the whole time we were driving to L'Oasis Lodge, because there were so many different and new things! There were banana trees, and coffee bean trees everywhere, and there were lots of African …

The place was really quaint & service was great. For Tanzania the rooms were comfortable & clean. The restaurant was good.

This is probably the best hotel you can find in Tanzania. It was super pretty! The workers tried really hard to make sure that you were having a good time. I love L'Oasis Lodge!

The service is excellent! I felt like royalty, with running water and extra blankets, because Tanzania is such a poor country. The people are really nice and remember your name. You stay in cute little huts with thatched roofs. Oh, and not to mention Henry, the famous crown-crested crane. I would recommend it. It is probably the best place you could stay in that area.

After four days of safari, whas'nt a noisy stay in the middle of Arusha city center temptanting at all.. Rough Guides Tanzania recommended L'Oasis, so we did'nt doubt about it, phoned the hotel and 10 minuets later we're in heaven! Nice and kozy place a 5 min taxidrive from the citycenter. We stayed in one of the bungalow,- fantastic! Kleen and nice. But it as power cuts like in the rest of Arusha and bad internetconnection .. And a doug barking at people pasing by the gate.
