... are translucent and grow in little clusters. Every walk revealed something new and if it wasn't so hot we probably would have walked more.
We didn't know until the day we were leaving that Huckleberries grow prolifically in this area or we would have endured the heat to pick some .....they are so delicious!
In the spot the deer picture there is only the shadow of his head visible ...
... because he loaned me a pair of crocs so I could walk into the river to cool off and avoid heat stroke. So go buy some wine from him now...thank you. Plus, he was funny...he and his buddy had just finished a 12 pack of beer, and they were in high spirits. The other funny dude was just hanging around under a shady tree. He came over to chat, attracted by the motorcycles (or Shawn's raw animal sexuality, not sure which ;-) Anyway, at the end of the conversation, he came up ...
Nelson, Canada bill212Crossing the border was not a problem, had to off load a few fruits and veggies. We first went to Nelson BC then a little further north to Kaslo. Hot Springs, golf, boating, new friends, great campground, and a town I really liked.
Went for an adventure into the woods trying to find a natural hot springs, didn't find it but had fun trying.
Just check out the pictures, it's hard to describe the area. It was a great trip.
Got the Greyhound from Kelowna into Nelson late last night, but still had a little time to look around. In the stunning setting of the west arm of Kootenay Lake, the city of Nelson sits largely unoffensively in the valley on the South-Eastern lakeshore. I use the word 'city' here loosely, as it is technically a city, but with a population of 9,000 it's not exactly epic by European standards.
There was a complete lack of franchises in the downtown area, which i guess is done ...
... in half and log rolling and all sorts. By the time we got to the motel i crashed straight away. The next morning we went to Ainsworth hot springs....It's a naturally heated pool in the caves that sits at around 40 degrees...boy was it steamy...Then when you come out of there you are meant to jump into the plunge pool which is 9 degrees and holy **** it's a killer. I only did that once before i ...
Ainsworth Hot Springs, British Columbia, Canada culv3r... were all almost asleep we heard mum (leanne) screaming BEAR BEAR theres a Effing BEAR just there, so papa smurf (neil) slammed on the brakes and before he knew it the seat belts were off and everyone was out the doors ignoring the fact that he told us to stay in the car cause itll kill us! we got the the side of the road and watched it eat the grass, it was only a little baby grizzly which meant its mother ...
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada tamata09... over to the island. The first thing we discovered was that the bridge was closed for repair. We did get a chance to see the chapel house & look around the island a little. The curator at the chapel was incredibly helpful & in fact told us about the Art Walk in town. The bridge repairs meant that I didn't have to tackle my fears & do a suspension bridge ...thank God!! Unfortunately the Station Museum was closed today - maybe next time. No trip to the area would be ...
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada campbeleHi Folks! We're not fried yet even tho the temp's been up to 40c. Our 2nd day in Osoyoos was great. Very relaxing, sitting on the sidewalk, eating ice-cream and watching the world go by. Then we swam in the lake to cool off. Leaving Osoyoos the next day, we had a big climb (1477m), over 11 1/2 miles, awesome views, and we seem to be getting used to the heat. Stopped in Midway, where we had brilliant banter with 3 other couples at the same motel (Mile Zero, as it's close to ...
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada eoinandrosie... whinges from the male contingent, as we were all a bit lethargic after the hot springs. The following morning we drove right up to the top of the town and looked back down over it, which was a lovely view. Then Nath and I did a walk to Pulpit Rock on the other side of the river, although it turns out we followed the wrong track as it wasn't signposted - we still had a wonderful view of the river and mountains and Nelson though.
