Chasing Lions

... the other little one made it across and they set out determinedly into the brush where no paths could follow them. I think we all let out a collective sigh of happiness at our good fortune and excitement at how close they had come to us!

After that we made our way into the interior and saw the Baboons finally and more giraffe and zebra and big elephants. Then, as our lead truck ...

Our scariest animal encounter, day 5 in the wild

... staring directly at us...we stared back unable to speak or move. Like a pretty girl waving in the class nerd to join her for lunch, I quickly doubled checked behind me, thinking these elephants were surely staring down someone else! Hmm, nothing. They didn't move, just stood there staring and sizing up how big of a threat we were. I think 4 or 5 of them had gathered here in a frozen stand off with our tank. They ...

Landie leads the way, day 4 in the wild

... couldn't believe our eyes, but there was no mistaking this reality when our truck tires slowly rolled up onto a soft, paved wonderful brand new road! A real road! It felt like we were driving on feathers. This lastest about 5 minutes when we reached the border crossing to Namibia, and unfortunately we were turning the other direction to again enter Chobe National Park and back to the sand tracks.

We welcomed these sand tracks as they ...

The area Dunkeld that we stayed at is one of the nicest and richest area of Jo'berg (according to our guide), so we were allowed to walk around the shops at night although as they were closed and no bar near by we didn't bother. That's all of JO'berg ...

... road a little further - just ask a local is the easiest way to find it. Our guide told us to buy Amarula here (there is a Bottle Shop in the Supermarket area) rather than wait until Zambia and beyond as it starts getting much more expensive the further north you go. So if you like it and want to buy it, do it here (or before here if possible).

Botswana's Story

... game drive, we saw elephant, water buffalo and loads of birds. That afternoon we went on a 'non-booze' sunset cruise on the river, on which we polished off two eskies of beer...which proved a problem when we discovered there was no toilet on board...another interesting experience illegally running onto an island after viewing tens of crocs and hippos for a ****-stop infront of twenty others!!

Roadside entertainment

Left early (Shocking surprise!)

A loooong day on the road (600 km to be exact), however we were rewarded with roadside sitings of elephants and giraffes on the side of the road.

We took a provisionary stop in Kasane and ended off the day by arriving around sunset at our campsite and ate a DELICIOUS fish curry (and, keep in mind, I don't really like fish) with Chai tea...perfect cap to the evening!

How we ended up going to botswana

It was a cold Wednesday in Livingstone and we had booked ourselves on a booze cruise. They came to pick us up at 3 and took us to a boat on the Zambizi river, just upstream from Vic falls. The highlight was that there was unlimited booze.
When we got to the boat we realised it had been taken over by a massive group of Irish, the cruise took us up the Zambezi river to look at the wildlife although we where concentrating on ...

... we saw two more lions. The lioness was the nicest we have seen. I also noticed that morning that some ******* had stolen my green "Fecking Eejit" tshirt.

That night we went on an evening boat cruise on the Chobe River. We seen a few hippos and 10s of elephants drinking from the river. We go so close to the elephants. There was females and babies there.

Leave the Moremi and enters Chobe Reserve.

... I woke up to check the spoor, less tha 5 meters the Leopard strolled past my tent, sometime during the night!! No problem actually BUT one of the effects of thirst quenching the previous night... - you guessed it... an undeniable urge to relieve yourself outside of your tent - leopard country!! After some deliberation with myself about what could have happened.... a sudden dryness seems to appear in my throat....
