When you're in Dubai (and fly in in the middle of the night) you don't really realize that you're surrounded by sand as well as countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia. ... the famous Atlantis, allowed us to take a quick peek at the foyer - suffice it to say we felt very under dressed in our trackie dacks with these wealthy people in evening gowns, killer heels and jewels. Our ""squeezing of the lemon" meant we only got to bed just before 1 am, however as my good friend Carol always says - YOLO (You only live once!).
The rest of the trip was uneventful if long and it was wonderful to be met by Derric at the airport.

... surprisingly good...as far as indoor skiing is concerned. It had a pretty solid base that one could even carve on. Ski Dubai is located, like most things in Dubai, inside a shopping mall. It has a 300 foot high hill with a quarter mile of slope. ... The foyer and lounge are grand Art Nouveau with added gold leaf. It was too early in the day for high tea (bookings required) so we settled on to a chaise lounge and Grant ordered a camelcino - a cappuccino made with camel milk and date syrup on top.
