... On most roads the curves and bends last a few miles and end but on this road they simply go on forever. I raced ahead taking photos every ten minutes of every mountain and scenic place all along the route. At one point there was a stuffed pig at the side of the road where I stopped and parked the bike up beside it for a photo. This was to be a big mistake. ... tube is that the patch that we'd applied to the pinch holes had failed. Part of it had slipped and created a crease through which the air was escaping. We carefully cut and removed the portion that had slipped and then proceeded to use one of the 3" in diameter monster patches that the Gomero presumably uses to fix truck tires. At this point, given our track record, no patch could be too large to seal the tube.

... Fausto farewell as we'd taken enough of his time and sadly concluded that there was nothing more that he could do for us. At that point, we took stock. We had a 19" diameter front tube (the rear is 17") and we had two pressurized tire repair cannisters - the ones that inflate and seal a leaking tire. ... We'd stopped to rest, after all we'd been lugging our rucksacks around all this time and we were shattered. Also, I'd barely slept in our last was sooo noisy in the end, we managed about 4 hours sleep a night for the past week since people seemed to be up and about chatting until 2 am, before stomping around and banging doors and finally going to bed.
