DAY 19 Yesterday we drove from the East to the West coast, again in beautiful weather which showed us the beautiful country in all of its glory. We saw snow capped mountains, sandstone mountains that looked as if cream had been poured over them and mountains with huge loose rocks on the sides so they looked like wild Stonehenges. The Road (we wish we had!) Not Taken!
... then drop the envelope in the box. We filled out the
envelope, put the money in & keep it in the van, should the
ranger called round! Next morning, still no sign of the ranger, we
opened the envelope, pocketed the $12 & off we went. That my
friends, is free camping!
Back to the big sign we met on the
way, we found the road was still closed, so we hightailed the 170kms

... il y a un an dans une petite région nommée Touraine!!! Il connaît donc bien de nombreux endroits que nous parcourons régulièrement : Tours, Blois, Amboise ou encore Azay-le-Rideau!
Nous échangeons sur pleins de sujets différents : circulation, fromage, vin, château, comparaison de nos deux pays... Puis nous filons!
Encore quelques petites courses à faire avant de nous rendre sur la plage, profitant certainement du seul rayon de soleil qu'il y aura ...

I was a bit suprised that I didn't win best outfit but there were some great ones. Sam made a dress out of balloons and the winner was a guy in a suitcase, simple but effective. He gave the role an added bit of panache by saying 'I rest my case' everytime he sat down, my Mum would be proud of that one. The alcohol was a lot cheaper than most of New Zealand and it was a great way to get to know the group ...
Glacier, Rainforest, Beach and Glowworms
... doing some steep banking to view all the ice formations on the glacier. It was just stunning and looked so close. I think these helicopter pilots must have gone to the same school of driving as the jet boat pilots!! Crazy. It was awesome, though. We landed on a helicopter pad which our guide had flattened out for us - he was already up there waiting for the group. There were 11 of us in total. He showed us how to fit the crampons ...
