The house wasnt the only shock, the living conditions are a nightmare. At the moment its not raining in Ecuador which means no power, or water. The power and water is cut from 7am to midday and then again from 2pm to 6pm. This is everyday!!! And will continue like that for months. We really are so lucky in NZ.

Guayaquil is a sprawling city, like many in Ecuador and Colombia, but the 'burbs didn't go on forever. In fact it only got really busy about 2 kms from the centre. We came across roads that had been blocked off to accommodate football matches and parties, by simply parking cars and motorbikes across the road. Tuesday began innocently enough, with ten of us (Boli and Tim were to meet with Hogar de Cristo representatives to discuss furthering our involvement in microfinance and water treatment) heading out to two build sites. We arrived at the "country" Hogar office, and soon after, Team Ivan (so named from the maestro they work with) headed out to the first build site. ... involved in making the pieces of art. After coming back and hanging out with Tristan, Markus, and others at Kahyda, we left with Kahyda at night for the weekly pizza meeting with the CS members. It was very fun, with lots of pictures and videos and games. Then about half of us went dancing at a small bar, and finally about an hour or so (12.30) we came back home. Tomorrow I'm hoping to visit some more sites around town... cuz why not... till' next time. :)

Spent one day sorting out the Galapagos tour and checking out the city really helpful hostel owner sorted out 5 day cruise in the moring so we got to explor the city early...went to Iguana park...full of big land iguanas..sea front was also a nice area and nicer than the guide books made out

... 6 hours later and Iīm still trying to work out whether to do the border crossing to Peru tonight or stay in Guayaquil and do it in the morning. I heard itīs easier at night as the officials just want you on your way and they donīt try and bribe you but the two immigration points are 3km apart and the buses donīt wait for you- you have to either wait for another bus or take a taxi. ... a Guayaquil. voir entree suivante. retour chez Suzie, rebelote, vais faire quelques courses, on tchatche dans la cuisine tout en cuisinant (beignets de poissons et des legumes) elle cuisine super bien! et a ce quelle me dit les potes de ses enfants le savent aussi! elle moffre avant de partir le lendemain des boucles doreilles et un bracelets en perles, je la trouve tellement adorable, elle est douce, marrante et tellement interessante. une tres belle personne!

Guayaquil, is a little bit gungy, but it has good resturants and a nice walkway along the river.
