... special service tool no 2 (a piece of wood) it looks like new. (yea Right). Dave hopefully wont follow not so close.
This petrol station said they had fuel but the petrol station attendant said we must wait, this was an African wait. All of the locals came to visit, and talk about the bikes, i had to butter the petrol attendant up and tell her how nice she was, how good everyone was, and it was like magic. The pumps turned on and me and Dave had fuel.

Once again the road maps helped us out!!! Not..headed into Chipata and then the turn off to South Luangwa Nation Park.. at least this time there was a road however it had corrugations like I had never seen before.. I could only get the Shorty up to 50Km/hr above that the back end wanted to swap with the front.. less than 50 and my eye's could not focus.. not so bad only lasted for 110km's..
Arrived and decided to stay at a place called Track & trails ...
... different. The scenery was very vibrant and the vistas just beautiful. We saw some animals that we had never seen before (especially on the night drive) such as a genet, a mongoose, bush tailed and water bucks, a leopard and some owls. We even saw the king fisher owl, which is one of the rarest birds there. That night we came back to our campsite and headed to bed. In the middle of the night there was rustling through the campsite and a torch was shining ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia caralyn... budget given by moses from the kitty money, and Malawi was quite expensive for food, sadly Zambia is supposed to be much worst…….. o dear….the drive to the Zambia border was only 2 and half hours and I got to finish the third book in th twilight series, whoop!! need the 4th one now!! the border crossing didn't take long, $50 to get in and we’re here ...
Zambia, Northern, Zambia courters... warmed up they were playing in our hair, holding our sunglasses, etc. They sleep in bunkbeds in 2 rooms. They wear tattered clothing and everything is dusty and dirty. They only had a few torn books, an old soccer ball. We brought balls the next day and they were a big hit. They 4 books I brought were equally as welcome.
I'm going to finish now as Christina is waiting her turn. For sure more to come later.
Thanks again for all your continued prayers.
... lionesses got up and as she did both Dave and I shouted at the boys to shut the windows as she walked right in front of the car without a care in the world! A little later we came across another pride. This group consisted of several large females, a few youngsters and a beautiful male. They were doing absolutely nothing - we got excited at one stage as one of them got up, but it just moved to a new spot! As we were leaving Dave spotted a cub lying in the bush ...
South Luangwa, Zambia, Zambia emmaw... of the hippo's grunting. The final day at the camp, we chose not do the game drives, but instead enjoyed the morning at camp. In the afternoon we left the camp for Livingstone. We were taken to the Mfuwe airport. In the airport there is actuallt an Barclays ATM that takes Visa/Plus. This would have been helpful to know as we originally thought there were no ATM's in Mfuwe and the only one was in Chipata (3-4 hours away on the dirt road). The airplane was 45 minutes late, so we ...
Mfuwe, Zambia sklitgord... a giant spotlight looking for leopards and lions, which hunt at night. We came upon two other safari trucks that had spotted a lioness and they had their spotlight right on it. Prior to this point, we saw lionesses two other times, and they had always traveled in pairs. One of the other girls on our truck said "it's strange that there is only one since we have usually seen two together." Just then, I heard twigs breaking behind us in the darkness about 10 feet from our ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia globedecker... yet...although this proved to be a bad thing since a mother charged us. I've never been so nervous...to see this mammoth animal running towards you with huge tusks is really scary but it did give us quite the adrenaline rush! One of the locals told us that his father was killed by an elephant. Thank goodness the SUV was able to get out of there quickly. After about 2 hours on this drive we were driving in complete darkness with just a ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia amykclancy... I am sitting in my "hut" with my computer on the window sill looking at the hippos playing in the Luangwa River and trying to work out how the hell to do this place justice. I'll start at the beginning of my trip into the camp and hope that inspiration strikes as I type. First a travel pointer. I have finally succeeded in packing my electric toothbrush in such a way that it does not turn itself on "en route", scour the inside of my toilet bag, run the battery down and wear the brush ...
