      Turtle Beach Lodge Tortugero

We took a canal tour which is a must do activity in Tortuguero. The village has a network of canals and rivers that run through the forest. The boar ...

... we headed out in the dark with 3 others and our guide. Upon getting to the entrance of the national park we waited around for the green light from the ranger, and were finally told to head off to a numbered post, where a spotter had seen a green sea turtle. She was absolutely beautiful, much bigger than we anticipated and quite extraordinary. She had already buried her eggs, and was "camouflaging" where she covers her hole with sand from digging a second hole to ...

... to tell her that I was completely sure that she'd be fine, and that if I could go to Central America alone then she could probably go on a family holiday to Italy and be fine. She thanked me for the encouragement and said that I'd changed her mind and next year she was going to do it, horrah horrah! Again, she smashed down the America stereotype and went on to is some rather questionable air humping and guitar slamming dance moves. Ok, turns out next stop wasn't Costa Rica ...

... leaves. A real garden of Eden if one can cope with the cold nights!

We had to book the taxi to take us back 7 kilometres to the main road to catch the San Jose bus. We had the same man who had collected us. When we arrived at the stop it was very cold and damp, the cloud had descended (or even ascended as we were over 3,000 metres) so we could not see far. Our driver, Juan, was lovely, we tried to say goodbye but he said , no, he was going to wait with ...
