Travelling to Tuningi Lodge in Madikwe Game Reserv

We got on the road early as we knew it was a big travelling day. Danny was expecting a few stoppages as the police are often out and about doing vehicle checks during the Christmas time. We did only get stopped once. The road was good once again and we seemed to move along at a good pace. There was a mixture of rich mining towns and shanty towns, and everything between, on the way up. We stopped at Zeerust to grab something for lunch. We have just been getting the sandwiches from the ...

... eventually and afterwards a family of elephants entertained us by coming for a swim in the river below. The rest of the day was spent escaping the heat in the shade of the tent, watching lizards, monkeys and birds passing through the trees.
A lovely afternoon/evening drive brought us wild dogs, more lions and elephants playing in the water. A fine dinner followed and we fell asleep to the lion's roar again. I think the rhino is giving him ...

We have a wee bit of time before dinner and discover that the guide does not sit down to dinner with the guests. It would have been nice to discuss the drive and learn a little more from JR, but he may be ...

Madikwe Safari Lodge - great!

... This made for great drive experiences.

In the resort, we were served exceptionally well. Although we cringe at the thought of being served, the staff had a very discreet approach. Among these members, Constance, our butler, took good care of us, particularly our two boys. We are very pleased with our stay at Madikwe and have ended our safari experience with a bang.

These safaris have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
