Today was somewhat of a free-day. Britta and Joachim decided to take us back to the base of the Harz Mountains, this time to a little town called Quedlinburg. Much like Wer*****ode, the wood-framed homes are beautifully colored and there are flowers everywhere. The entire town smells of roses.

Our first stop was the Abbey Church of St. Servatius. The Abbey holds a great historical significance and ...

The nearest description we could make was - 'Dartmoor with lots of trees' or a 'Hilly New Forest' !!!

We easily found our stop for the night at the MH Aire in Bad Harzburg. This is situated on the ...

Darkness enveloped the room I shared with precious granddaughter Annalise, but the call of my other half woke my sleepy body and at 4:45am I was up and running. All prepared and ready to go when the cab arrived to take me to Heathrow for the flight to Hanover, Germany! Arriving in Hanover, I was met by the lovely Henry and Werner (the husband of Lydia who is Henry's cousin). Werner took us back to their place in Braunschweig ...
