Crossed the border into chile from argentina - all roads here are the usual rock, gravel and dirt. Everything around is just open space with short stubby grass (pampa). So, I slept halfway on the bus to Torres. My bus was just Richard and I from the group. ... all immediately went to bed after dinner ready for the potential 12 hour day of trekking on day one. We woke up at 5.30am, there was a lot of snow on the ground, we grabbed an apple and began the 1 hour steep ascent up to the towers. ... haben wir zuerst das Zelt aufgebaut und eine Pause gemacht. Im Anschluss sind wir dann noch eine knappe Stunde zu den 'Torres del Paine', den Wahrzeichen des Nationalparks, aufgestiegen. Dabei handelt es sich um drei nadelartige Granitberge, die zwischen 2600 und 2850 m hoch sind.
An diesem Tag haben wir mehr als 750 Hoehenmeter zurueckgelegt.

Das angenehme in Patagonien sind die langen Tage. Sonnenaufgang hatten wir gegen 5:45 Uhr ...
