... couple lovely houses and a church. We are in a part of Ontario that has history for sure-- just not near as old as parts of the Maritimes.

One town/city we passed was established in 1874 and Lennox and Addington County turns 150 this year. Compare this to the settlements of the 1600s in the Maritimes. Funny, I never really considered myself much into history and I for sure lack knowledge of much of the history ...

... which was an added bonus.

I made sure to take lots of pictures - esp. with the kids. Frederick even tried to take a picture of a snake. We even found a blue egg on the ground. It was cracked open and a little yoke was inside of it. There were seagulls and geese flying above the river and we even saw a Blue Jay washing itself in a little creek.

Following the Lake Ontario coastline to Gananaque and then Ivy Lea seemed to take forever, however driving through Toronto went better than expected with my experienced and very patient driver. We weren't able to cruise the islands as that needed to be done well in advance (it's a long weekend here) so we headed further up the river to the Upper Canada Village.
